Bonny Doon Simulated Overflight
This is a simulated F-16 overflight of Bonny Doon, California, generated using Google Earth Pro. It shows "Core" and "Joint" radio neighborhoods as of the date of the movie.
Core neighborhoods are clusters of properties with strong potential for social cohesion, generally because they are accessed from the same streets. Joint neighborhoods are groups of two or more core neighborhoods that use the same radio preset and hold coordinated exercises. Importantly, the neighborhood boundaries shown may not reflect actual participation. Some participants in a given radio neighborhood may live outside it, or even in a different radio neighborhood. The neighborhood boundaries are for planning and orientation, not actual administration.
Each color represents one of the five MURS frequencies (yellow, blue, green, cyan, magenta) or an FRS frequency (red). Because all members of a joint neighborhood use the same radio preset, all are mapped with the same color (or, in the case of Smith Grade, shades of the same color).
The flight begins by taking off from the Bonny Doon Village Airport towards the south. It passes the Pineridge and Cave Gulch neighborhoods, then banks right over Wilder Ranch State Park and the Smith Grade neighborhoods. Finishing the right bank over Smith Grade, the flight proceeds due north over the Bonny Doon Ecological Reserve and up the middle of Ben Lomond Mountain. At the junction of Empire Grade and Alba Road, the flight banks hard right and returns over Ben Lomond Mountain heading southwest towards Molino Creek Farm.
